These songs are pre-war and modern blues, primitive jazz, music from the southern mountains, and folk songs produced with acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, dobro, flugelhorn, bass and vocal harmonies. There are electric guitar and drums on one. Mercy for the Dispossessed and Painted Pony are instrumentals.
