Into The Deeper Blue

You know when I need you the most, that's when you come around
You pop right in through a hole in my head and I hear that sound
I don't know how you do it or how the joy gets through
In your presence I am not blind I, see a deeper blue

I am not dying! I will get through!
This world of dreams to the deeper blue
Into the deeper blue

I've walked in this river, this river, with a promise to keep
I remember being washed in the water, feeling your kiss in my sleep
You are the ages, I am just one for the true
Dance me down on holy ground, into the deeper blue

I am not dying! I will get through!
This world of dreams to the deeper blue
I am not dying! I will get through!
This world of dreams to the deeper blue
Into the deeper blue

I walk in this fire, this fire, I need the flames
Like a seed that opens only after burning, I call out your names
I don't know you do it or how the joy gets through
In your presence I am not blind I, see a deeper blue

I am not dying! I will get through!
This world of dreams to the deeper blue
I am not dying! I will get through!
This world of dreams to the deeper blue
Into the deeper blue
Into the deeper blue
Into the deeper blue

This song is addressed to the Creative Muse, and, by extension, to the Universal Creative Force, for want of a better term. This may or may not be obvious from the lyrics. The "deeper blue" image is admittedly ambiguous. I used it here to represent certainly the unifying aspects of water in general, but also to represent the "unknowable depths" of our human lives and the dissolution of the self in favor of serenity, or, in other words, the abandonment of a single viewpoint in favor of an infinity of simultaneous viewpoints. I didn't exactly go in with this risky, esoteric agenda... the song just kind of veered off onto this subject matter and turned out the way it did. In its earlier incarnations, it was about cooking & dancing in the kitchen. Go figure.
