Natural Law

(spoken) You can drive all night with your sunglasses on, keep the radio down low & drink whiskey out of a bag. But somewhere in the night you'll catch the gleam of a silver line; it's a memory pipe into childhood dreams. You'll look into the bottoms of deep rivers, hold the line in your hand, and wait for the long heavy pull.

Everything got to move by natural law
Wing & bone, stone & starlight
Mind & matter, stinger & claw
It's paradise, and it's a desert land
Where lambs & lions, devils & angels
Come walking hand in hand

(spoken) I crave beauty, and I crave deep green. I need peace & sunlight like a dolphin needs sky. Breathe in blue: breathe out red. And I would sleep deep down beneath every language, where old memories come like stones rising in a lake. And sometimes in the half-light between worlds I can see my way across.

Everything got to move by natural law
Wing & bone, stone & starlight
Mind & matter, stinger & claw
It's paradise, and it's a desert land
Where lambs & lions, devils & angels
Come walking hand in hand

(spoken) I believe in love, and I believe in kindness. I believe we could make the world a better place to grow up, children. I'd like to see a wild leopard before I die. I want to feel the long heavy pull. Everybody reconnect! Everybody remember!

Everything got to move by natural law
Wing & bone, stone & starlight
Mind & matter, stinger & claw
It's paradise, and it's a desert land
Where lambs & lions, devils & angels
Come walking hand in hand
Come walking hand in hand
